Shafeeqa Davids holds a Master’s degree in Economics degree from the University of the Western Cape. Her thesis focused on estimating sizing the informal economy in South Africa. At the Financial and Fiscal Commission, Shafeeqa’s core focus is on the Local government fiscal framework, local government budget analysis and fiscal policy related issues. Before joining the commission, she worked at the Western Cape Treasury as an economist in their Fiscal Policy unit. Her research interests are in the areas of municipal sustainability and viability and the local government fiscal framework.
